bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers

for christmas i got the pioneer woman cookbook from elle and have been wanting to make these bad boys.  unfortunately they didn't turn out as amazing as i pictured but i will say it's my fault.  so please learn from my mistake and use thinly sliced bacon!!  i beg of you thin bacon would have made this a tasty treat instead of an overcooked cheesy mess.  since i used extremely thick bacon mine had to cook nearly 2 hrs before it was cooked enough to eat.  they tasted ok but really would've been much better had i used thinner bacon.  here is a picture of my poor overcooked poppers with burned cheese & bbq sauce:

ingredients:
18 fresh jalapeños
8 oz of cream cheese
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 green onion (i used white onions since i didn’t have green)
18 slices bacon, cut into halves
bbq sauce (sweet baby rays)
toothpicks
rubber/plastic gloves for working with the jalapeños (pioneer woman tip - WEAR THE GLOVES…trust me!)
directions:
preheat the oven to 275°
cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise
remove the seeds and membranes with a spoon, for more heat….leave some seeds in
in a bowl combine the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and chopped green onion. mix gently.
stuff each half with the cream cheese mixture
wrap the bacon slices around each half, be careful not to stretch the bacon and wrap too tightly (it contracts when it cooks)
brush the surface of the bacon with your favorite  barbecue sauce (you can use chutney or apricot jelly instead, if you like)
secure the jalapeños with toothpicks.
i like to use a pan with a rack onto so that they get crispy all around.
bake them for 1 hour or until the bacon is sizzling

delicious goodness before i ruined it..
can you tell how thick the slices of bacon are?

 yummy bbq sauce!
