spaghetti carbonara

 

this was the best plate of spaghetti carbonara i've ever eaten by far.  i should've known that i had to go to italy to experience such greatness, duh!  thank you house grill (i hope that was the name of it but if not i blame google) in rome for such a perfect dish to end my perfect day.. but next time if it's not too much to ask can you serve this american a larger portion?  i guess you are forgiven since that view more than makes up for the lack of noodles on my plate.

let me point out why i picked this place and what drew me in, it was the fact that nearly half the sign focuses on a few of my favorite words. yep, you had me at coca-cola.  that plus it's a german right of passage that one must partake of a bratwurst while visiting, if not it's as if you were never there.

the picture shows both a bratwurst and a hot link accompanied by fries all of wich the main asian and i shared.  the hot link and brat were great but the fries were ruined by the ketchup.  i should have known better than to expect the same heinz ketchup in germany but i did.  in fact i didn't think twice when the man asked if i wanted ketchup with my fries but i most certainly didn't expect that he would put the ketchup directly on my fries let a lone that he would drench them with ketchup.  all and all our lunch was good but i did not eat many of the fries even though they gave us a tiny wood fork to eat them with.

cafe hauptwache

we decided to eat at cafe hauptwache because it had dishes that were unique to the frankfurt area specifically.

- cold green sauce served with boiled potatoes and boiled eggs (green sauce is a traditional frankfurt cold cream sauce made of 9 herbs)

- harzer cheese marinated with raw onion and caraway and served with bread and butter

- it's only naturally that we had to order a side of german potato salad

that's right, i'm talking about a bad girl.  this specific bad girl happens to be name donna summer and she is the queen of disco.  she gave us hit after hit such as last dance, love to love you, she works hard for the money and hot stuff.  if' you don't know who she is you better ask somebody because you are missing out on some groovy disco jams.
