hungry for life.. thirsty for the distance

is this really my life right now? are my ears actually being graced with the heaven sent voice of sade?

if you know me then you understand that i've got mad love for john legend. i would love for john to give me the sweetest taboo but after sade hit the stage i forgot all about the opening performance he did. wow is the best i can do cause i'm nearly speechless. she puts on an unbelievable performance and her voice is outstanding live!! i get it.. all of it, i fully understand why some of my guy friends in high school had such a crush on her. she is the real deal. sade even had brenda and i swooning.. believe me, smooth operator completely makes sense.

those words are what i wish was my reality at this very moment. his smile, those dimples and that ridiculously sexy voice makes me melt into a billion pieces when john legend sings. no joke ladies if you think his voice is mesmerizing on the cd you have no idea what awaits you at a live show. i felt like i was alone in a room and he was singing directly to me.. if only! i'm certain that there is a higher authority that knows me well enough to know to not let only the two of us be left in a room.. he's gonna get it, i'm gonna give it to him and he doesn't even know it's coming.. i've got your green light john! hee hee

in the end i know that we'll find a love so beautiful and divine and we'll be lovers for a lifetime.. i will stay with you!!

throwback thursday - shai

sorry i don't have it in me to split up these songs from one anther, for this months throwback i pick a group from back in the day and my two favorite songs by this boy group.

there was once a point in my young life that i thought the perfect love song could make boys and girls fall in love. little did i know that this was only the case in movies and music videos. i honestly have no clue at what point in time this came to be part of my thinking but i can tell you the point when my delusional reality came crashing down.

it was sometime during my seventh grade year when both my bff and i developed a crush on the same boy. he was tall dark and handsome and he shall remain nameless. his grandparents lived at the end of our court and my friend and i used to sing and dance in our friend yards but when a certain someone was in town visiting we would only sing love songs. i thought for sure he'd fall in love with one of us and that one of us would at least have a happily ever after with him. i remember these two songs specifically (i had the tape and played these jams all the time) along with whitney's i will always love you in our love song rotations. well, the love didn't blossom as quickly as we'd expected and to add to the mess of no love i met his cousin and quickly switched my undying affection to him. needless to say we did not fall in love and i moved away. i do have to share with you all that few years later my bff did indeed end up dating the aforementioned boy. it has never been confirmed but i like to attributed to our amazing vocal skills or love song selection but no they did not end up happily ever after.

windows are rolled down

it's unreal how smooth your performance was!! i swear if there was a colic baby in the audience you could have calmed it with your perfectly tuned slightly raspy voice. the evening was filled with your effortless flow of lyrics that sprang from your mouth to our ears. wow i still can't believe how great you sounded live, thank you amos lee for such an outstanding performance.

this picture is from a song when calexico joined amos on stage to help perform a song. calexico was enjoyable but amos brought down the house!

if you’ve been to the original spot, you’ll like that this one is equipped with a full bar. but it’s really the private access to the fox theater from the shiny, 10-person dining car booth (think: the orient express meets the jetsons) that makes it your go-to spot when you’re seeing a show.

when i received the above description in an email several months back i knew where i would be eating before heading over for this show. i am here to report that the train car and secret passageway to a theater next door DO NOT REALLY EXIST. ok well clearly you can see in this picture that they do exist but you are not allowed to use them. yep you read that right, we were not allowed to sit in the train car nor were we granted access to the fox theater even with our tickets to the show. plus the food at rudy's was only average so i'm not sure how they can be called can't fail when all signs point to the fact that they indeed did just that.
