sugarland.. want to

jennifer nettles & kristian bush have brought perfection to the country scene by marrying their two talents and forming the group known as sugarland. if these two don't make you tune into your local country station i'm not sure who will. the duo put on an amazing performance as they rocked the stage tonight!! together they worked it like a lit stick of dynamite full of fun and flirty energy. jennifer has a voice that commands the attention of any audience and she'll leave you begging for more. not only can she sing but their lyrics will make you reflect on your past yet look forward to the future. here are some lyrics from my favorite song they sing called 'want to' off their enjoy the ride cd:

we could sit on the shore
we could just be friends
or we could jump in

whole world could change in a minute
just one kiss could stop this spinning
we could think it through
but i don't want to
if you don't want to

yeah we both got dreams
we could chase alone
or we could make our own

we could keep things just the same
leave here the way we came with nothing to lose
but i don't want to
if you don't want to

when i hear this song i have hope that one day i might be open to letting myself let go. not that i'm willing to do this anytime soon but this song gives me hope that someday i might.

ps did i mention we scored a free upgrade from the lawn to seats?

costco chicken

yesterday i purchased a rotisserie chicken from costco. i love those things but since it's just me it takes awhile to get rid of it all. the fun thing is that since it's ready to eat all you need are the sides, yesterday i ate it with asparagus. today i cut it up and made a chicken sandwich on a toasted cheese bagel. be creative with leftovers or they get old really fast. i have found that you can freeze it just fine even though it's already cooked. i used my frozen chicken from my last one on the nachos a few days back.

pick up or delivery?

after a long day and night plus only getting 2hrs of sleep we were all ready to call it quits. that is until we realized we needed food but no one wanted to move. we decided on chinese take out and i drew the short end of the stick which was to drive 15mins to pick it up. i dialed the number and said i’d like to place an order to go when i heard the wonderful words “will this be pick up or delivery”? …DELIVERY of course with no hesitation. rescued by those words it provided a little relaxation and food in 30mins to several worn out hungry souls. today this phrase rang like music to my ears and i want to thank the man/woman who invented this action. it’s also come handy for lazy days or days that you don’t want to lose a sweet parking spot in your ever so busy apartment complex. regardless of your reasons for paying the five extra dollars to have food delivered directly to your door i say take advantage!!

chicken nachos

i was hungry by the time i made it home and i didn't feel like doing much to make dinner happen. it was such an easy meal to throw together and it cleared a small space in my freezer too. the chicken was leftover from a rotisserie chicken i'd cut up and froze. i threw the meat in the pan and seasoned it with taco seasoning. then topped the chips with one layer of cheese, lime flavored re-fried beans, chicken and added another layer of cheese. once i pulled it out of the oven i added fresh cilantro, onions, jalapenos (i diced them so each bite could have some), salsa and ranch ( i didn't have any sour cream). they turned out to be delicious and to think i had all the ingredients at home.

we goin' sizzler...

hahahaha i can’t even begin to count how many times i watched this movie when i was little. not only did i really like this movie but it also made a reference to a restaurant that i loved to eat at.
for lunch today my coworkers and i went to lunch to celebrate our friend alexis's birthday. i’m not sure who decided on sizzler but i’m certainly glad they did!! eating there reminds me of some fun family dinners as a child. there are not many sizzlers left but luckily for me there is one a few miles down the road from my office. i have a specific memory that takes place at this particular sizzler. it involves my favorite uncle, my two brothers and karate kid 2. there used to be a theater right near this location and my uncle took us to sizzler after watching karate kid 2. the funny part to this story is that before we left for the movies my uncle taught us how to say thank you and you’re welcome in japanese. during the movie both of our new phrases were used and we cheered, needless to say we felt super cool for understanding what they said. thanks to my uncle for giving me this fun memory! i also want to thank sizzler for preparing me as a young girl to eat more food than was necessary for my belly and for making such delicious cheese toast. there is no messing around when it comes to sizzler’s all you can eat bar and endless cheese toast. so go with an empty stomach and you’ll leave not only with a happy tummy but with a smile.

a wicked fun saturday

what a blast today in san fancisco with the girls and wicked. even though it was better than i expected i might be the only one on earth who isn't a fan. i didn't hate it but i'm just not into musicals like most people are. i am however very grateful to have had the opportunity to see it. mostly i was happy to spend the time with my aunt and two cousins for a girls day in the city. i will say wicked was interesting and although i didn't have any looming questions from the wizard of oz it was cool how they integrated the two together. amazingly enough i knew a song from the show since it was featured on glee and now i understand what defying gravity was in reference to. after wicked we walked to the westfield shopping center and picked up food from bristol market. besides the groceries they also have a food bar that you dish yourself whatever food you want and pay by the pound. my box of food consisted of swedish meatballs, curry chicken, orange chicken, mac & cheese, chow mien, spinach salad with pasta, a few fresh mozzarella balls, asparagus, zucchini, cheese tortellini and an egg roll. it was fun to have a bit of everything and not decide on something specific even if it was $22.86 for my randomness, plus i enjoyed it.
