smitten

i received an email nearly a year ago about this ice cream spot called smiten that was opening in sf but until now i had never made my way there.  it took us roughly 40 minutes to make our way through the line but it didn't really seem to bother anyone on this gorgeous day in the city.  i think the wait was worth it but if you ask the other ladies i was with they felt that their ice cream was not flavored enough to make them want to return.  lucky for me i ordered the double ginger and i was pleasantly satisfied with my choice.

davis does

in the 1st quarter of the NFC championship game today tight end vernon davis scores a 73-yard touchdown and reveled in the glory by jumping on a cameraman's podium.  i love this clever manoeuvre by davis and i personally feel it was totally worth the 15 yard penalty.  keep on keepin' it classy davis!

 

ginn you were missed today but what can you do? it was a great season and i'm extremely proud of how far we went, thank you jim harbaugh for such an outstanding year!  believe me i'm still heart broken and sad but it's hard to be totally devastated. i absolutely wanted this season to continue to the superbowl but even without it we had such an amazing run. this niner season came out of the wood works and we defied what everyone though was possible. the reality of us getting this close to the final game was unfathomable at the start of the season and all i can do now is be grateful for the success we did have.

i heard this on the radio about a week ago but forgot to share it with you all.  i don't really have anything to say.. jason you've said it all.  i guess i'm sorry things didn't work out with you and your girl but i also guess i should say thanks for that and the song.

NOBODY!!

today i threw a football party entitled 'one game closer to the end'. i cooked way too much chilli accompanied by a choice of a ballpark hotdog, a all beef frank from costco or a hot link.. we're talkin' chilli and hot dogs for days!

if i could be like ike

hands down this was the best pastrami sandwich i've ever had.  if you think you can handle being amazed by the deliciousness that i just experienced then you should stop in at ike's place and see firsthand what the buzz is all about.  this specific sandwich is called paul reubens and it's filled with pastrami, homemade poppy seed coleslaw, french dressing, swiss and i promise it will not disappoint.  i've been a handful of times to ike's and out of the 5 sandwiches i've tried this is my new favorite.  i ordered it on sourdough and the bread was baked to perfection with a little bit of the hard exterior quickly followed by the bounce of a squishy soft inside.  the dressing and mixture of these flavors made each bite an equally delightful experience.

glory = dislike

is this song disturbing to anyone else?  maybe it's just me but not only am i disturbed by it but i think it's a terrible song!  it's like listening to a mash-up of a few cute and cleverly rhymed lines abruptly followed by verbal vomit.

 

please feel free to correct me if i'm being too critical but here are a list of disturbances:

• to me this song sounds extremely amateur, as if this was a no name dude trying to record a smash hit from his garage.
• why is it necessary for anyone to swear in a song that is written about their own child?  seriously how did he think that was a smart move?  is it too much to ask that you leave foul language out of one song, especially a song written about your baby girl?  it's ok to show some class.
• really.. instead of saying beyonce's name you prefer to refer to the mother of your daughter as destiny's child..  "you're my child with the child of destiny's child"
• while i hope this song was a sweet attempt to genuinely commemorate the birth of their baby i cannot overlook fact that jay z recognized an opprotunity to make some dollar dollar bills.  i'm just saying that if his intention was soley to capture and record such a monumental part of your life then why share such a special moment with us instead of recording it for your own private and personal use?  can beyonce and blue leave the hospital before you exploit her for money, just saying.
• i will mention that i think some of what his is expressing is absolutely touching and heartfelt but jay z ends up sharing too much about some extremely private experiences.  i just hope beyonce knew about his over sharing of their personal issues before this song was released.  i guess i don't understand why they would work so hard to keep all the miscarriages and previous devastation out of the media only to put it on blast the moment their first child was born.
• last but NOT least did you really feel the need disclose the place of conception?  even if you thought that was something the world wanted to know you should have thought about fact that this is never information your kids wish to hear.  T.M.I.

ps i posted this video with visable lyrics since i originally thought he said hoe a few times during the song, which is what first got me flared up, when indeed he says HOV (his nickname).

i believe that this song doesn't get enough recognition but i guess i'm a little grateful for that, it makes me feel like it's my own little gem.  for the record, this song doesn't make me think of anyone specific.  it does however make me feel like there could possibly be someone out there not perfect but perfect for me, someone so perfect for me that he's willing to wait.  all my friends think i'm crazy when i say this but i'm dead serious when i say that whoever i end up with will have to wait an awful long time before i'm ready to legitimately commit.  this song gives me hope that one day (a long time from now) i may find someone who loves me enough to wait all the years.  all that crappy sappy stuff aside i have to work on breaking down my heart enough to let him in as well... guuuu!!!

my wasted ham hock

after cooking my ham hock for 2 hrs i removed it and started throwing in whatever i had hoping it would miraculously turn into delicious potato soup.  i tossed in onions, potatoes, half and half, heavy cream, a can of cream of mushroom soup, a handful of cheddar cheese and a tub of creme fraiche, oh and some corn starch to try and salvage this poor pot of slop.  i know i should have at least glanced at a recipe but i was feeling way too lazy and unmotivated to stop by a store to pick up ingredients.  once i decided that i figured come whatever may and i'd make due with what i had at the house.

although it smelled extremely tasty i was left with mediocre results and a pot of runny soup.

how dare he

after being sick over the long new years weekend this meal would have made me happy for sure.

2011 earworm mashup

as we say goodbye to 2011 it's only appropriate that we look back to what last years pop music had to offer.  this is actually not a mashup that i like but that has more to do with the choice of songs and musch less to do with the dj earworm himself.  i'm sure some people will like this mix but for me these songs were most of the songs that i changed the station for.  either way dj earworm still has lots of great mashups to offer this just happens to be low on my list of jams he has to offer.  hopefully 2012 will have a better music selection to offer so that at the end of the year i won't be so disappointed.
