throwback thursday - so lonely

my choice this month for throwback thursday is so lonely by the police. i chose this because over the past several weeks i've been asked by a few people to name my favorite concert i've ever attended. i'll tell you the same that i told each of those people who asked... i'm certain i can't pick just one since i've been to so many. i am certain that the police lands somewhere among my top ten or possibly even my top five. for me it's a privilege to say i have seen the police live and i would recommend that if ever there comes an opportunity to see them you absolutely must!! as for me i was able to cross them off my must see list on monday, july 14, 2008 when they played at the shoreline amphitheater. here goes my lame attempt of putting into words their performance (please understand that anything i say will not bring justice to the actual show). i'll start by saying this may have been a reunion tour but you would never know from the energy they showcased. it was truly electrifying and it spread like wildfire to each of us in attendance. they played all their hits like king of pain, don't stand so close to me, message in a bottle to so lonely and every note was excellently executed. when the show ended the entire audience arose to their feet for a standing ovation honoring and celebrating the magic they had just witnessed.

aside from the show i'd like to go on record stating that while sting may be the lead vocals of this band i believe he wouldn't have struck it big had it not been for his all star band mates summers and copeland. together they are the english rock legends known as the police but individually they leave much to be desired.

* side note elvis costello opened for the police
