an afternoon of shopping in santa monica at the promenade makes for some hungry ladies so we decided to stop in at
La Sandia for lunch. i ordered the chicken zarape since it was recommended to my by both the employees i asked what their favorite dishes were. the dish was chicken with bacon, pico de gallo, cotija and chipotle sauce served with refried black beans and creamy white rice.
after the hype and recommendations on this dish i was sorely disappointed on what was delivered. the chicken while draped in sauce was dry and majorly lacking flavor. the black beans were fine but also needed help in the flavor department. to me the star of the dish was the creamy white rice despite the fact i didn't feel like it belonged at a mexican restaurant.
