poor house bistro

take out dinner from poor house bistro with the main asian.  these pictures are really bad but i was so hungry i was not going to take them over.. this girl needed to eat.  i'd highly recommend this as a place to check out but don't go on an evening if there is a hockey game or concert since it's basically across the street from the hp pavilion.

red beans & rice – served with corn bread with andouille sausage

the poor house – ham, roast beef, beef drippin’s and topped with au jus, dressed with shredded cabbage, tomato, pickles, mayo, creole mustard on a new orleans style french roll

jambalaya – smoked sausage and chicken simmered in tomato based creole sauce

beignets – 3 freshly-made donuts, served warm, sprinkled with powdered sugar

so the other day alexis shared this video with me and randomly i heard this the next day on KMEL.  i thought i'd give this song a shout out since i heard she killed it at the i heart radio show over the weekend.  i guess they wanted to see if she could pull this off live and apparently she showed them.

throwback thursday - wishful thinking

this will always and forever be a happy upbeat song to me.  i can remember my dad singing this song after break ups when i was growing up.  we'd be cruising in the car listening to this song while singing along and trying to forget about whatever my dads flavor of the months name was.  it may not be the normal happy childhood story but for some reason this song brings me back to my preteen years and reminds me of only happy thoughts.
