punky's bbq sauce

for christmas punky made us ladies homemade bbq sauce and bottled it.  lucky enough i'd forgotten about it until now so it was like christmas all over again.  i added the bbq sauce to some pork i cooked in the crock pot and made it into pulled pork sandwiches.  thanks punky they tasted wonderful!

padres vs. giants

thank you thank you thank you to the giants for not only loosing (i love cheering for the visiting team!) but for offering your fans such delicious food.  i will admit that these garlic fries were not as good as they normally are but it's only because whoever made these cheated me on the garlic.

corn salad

1 can black beans, drained
1 can white corn, drained (don't use yellow corn, it's not as sweet as white corn)
1 avocado, diced
2 medium tomatoes, diced
1 small red onion, chopped
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
marinade:
3 to 4 Tbsp fresh lime juice (2 limes)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
note: sometimes i make the salad the day before going to a party (like today i made if for tomorrows bbq), my onlly tip for doing this is to not add the avacadoes until right before you leave the house or serve.  if you make it all the same day let it marinate at least an hour before serving, the longer it sits in the marinade the better, but it's great fresh too.

a's disappointment

how is it that right across the bay the giants can serve delicious food but at the a's coliseum they can't seem to get it together?  it's not like i'm asking for a juicy perfectly cooked steak at a ball game but it seems like they should serve something i can look forward to eating.  i will mention that i enjoy their nachos but the last few times i've been there i can't seem to find the right ones.  somehow even branching out to try new food at the a's coliseum i am still thoroughly disappointed in their selections.  even though i would not recommend ordering either of these you still get a picture of my meatloaf and carnitas sandwiches.  yes i ate them both almost in their entirety even if i didn't really enjoy them i was hungry.  thankfully the wonderful fireworks at least redeemed a's for putting on a crazy fun production.
