bd's mongolian grill

this was my lunch on friday in naperviller with elle, lois and perter. we at at bd's mongolian grill where you make your own plate and flavor it with whatever you want and they grill it. i went with strip steak and pork, noodles, bell peppers, onions, jalapenos, an egg and flavored it with peanut sauce. they have a option for all you can eat or you can order just one plate. we ate here last time i was in the area but it was really good so we had to go back.

portillo's

here is a picture of my italian beef sandwich from portillo's. it was served on french bread and i added sweet & hot peppers. the flavor was as good i had hoped and as grand as i'd imagined it would be. i thoroughly enjoyed every bite! my only regret is that i got this sandwich to go. next time i will order and eat it immediately to save the bread from getting so soggy from all its juicy goodness.

ryan + tacos = my heart forever!!

alexis and i decided to hit up tacos la perla in fremont. yes it's a taco truck. tacos are great but when they become portable that makes them even better! i couldn't decide what kind of taco i wanted and luckily i didn't have to so i ordered one pork, one chicken and one steak. the chicken and steak were good but the pork was my least favorite and was too greasy. i'd been to this truck before but i've only had the HUGE burritos. i know some people are a bit suspect of taco trucks but for me i've learned to not be scurrrrd. in fact i'd say start with this truck in irvington then branch out from there. as for me, i like to think of them as heaven on wheels with an annoying jingle.

paid to play

i love any monday that happens to be a paid holiday off from work!! i'm sure everyone agrees that it's just a great way to start off the work week. let me tell you what i got paid to do today: sleep in, meet up with the main asian for lunch at five guys, go to the movies where i watched 'going the distance' and finally i got paid to eat at pinkberry with elle. i'd say this is the best paid monday i've had in awhile.

papalote & mission pie

our excursion into the city started with the need to check out papalote. it was featured on the throwdown with bobby flay. the throwdown featured a burrito called the triple threat. i didn't order this burrito cause it has shrimp in it and if i'd got it without shrimp it wouldn't be a legit triple threat. plus it was a $20 burrito so i wasn't gonna pay the full $20 and miss out on part of the ingredients. needless to say i can't fully say i've experienced this restaurant in all its glory. what i can say is that the salsa was outstanding. i believe they haded some type of a secret creamy ingredient that i couldn't put my finger on. whatever they used it made for a perfect base to such a tasty unique salsa. if they sold their salsa in the store i would purchase it all the time. unfortunately my burrito did not leave such a lasting impression. i ordered the carne asada burrito and felt that there was no flavor to their meat. i was soarly disappointed with my burrito and feel that if the meat wasn't seasoned or marinated that they needed to drive home the flavor in the other ingredients. sadly they did not. the beans and rice were tasteless and i had to add the little bit of remaining salsa to salvage the last bite of my burrito. i wouldn't recommend this place for a meal but i would suggest you stop off for a snack and order the chips and salsa. after our afternoon of walking we treated ourselves to a small slice of heaven mission pie. i started with a slice of banana cream pie. it was so delicious that i couldn't help myself and i left there with an entire pie. i know maybe i should've started with the entire pie so i could've eaten a slice from that but i didn't and i wasn't even ashamed to stand back in line and tell the same worker that i needed a whole pie to go. a huge thanks to our new friend who took us on a walking tour of sf and showed us a few new places in the city.

9.02.10

that's right folks todays date is 90210. i totally watched this show when it aired in 1990 and yes i was only ten years old. i would agree that i was a bit young to be watching but i had an older sister who watched plus my dad never monitored the tv. it was such a great show way back then and it's a shame what they've done with the new show, what a mess!! i admit that i'm a follower of this ridiculously lame remake but it's such a train wreck that i tune in to see how much crazy they can come up with. i love the silly teen drama and while i understand that it's a waste of time i can't wait for the new season and drama that is about to unwrap with the fires, the teacher, the baby, australia, the fight, the truth and the separation. i need to know how this is all going to play out. ps what happened to ethan?

carry you home

i gave this song to a friend the other day and when i listened to it i was reminded of it's greatness and i thought i'd share. nashville skyline effortlessly captured the bitter emotion of loneliness and somehow twisted it into this beautiful song of hope.

you're not the only one, isolated and undone
i know you think that you've been down,
you never know when things will turn around
together we'll climb and i'll carry you home
