blueberry panshake

i previously entered a blog post for i heart burger awhile back when a friend had recommended that i try it.  this vegas trip wasn't going to pass by without stopping in to see what the blueberry panshake was about.

even though i don't eat blueberry pancakes i decided i would shake things up a little and try this custom shake flavor.  i was impressed by how much flavor was packed into this shake and surprised how much i actually loved it.  in fact it was my favorite part of the entire meal and if i had anything to do with the title of this restaurant it'd be called i heart shake instead.

this is a picture of my caprese burger with angus beef, fresh mozzarella, basil, beefsteak tomato, lettuce and a balsamic reduction.  some of my friends would be impressed to know that i even ate the tomato and if i'm being honest with not only myself but with you i'll admit that i enjoyed it.  i always order my burgers with no tomato but it just felt wrong asking for no tomato on a caprese burger.

my garbage fries are topped with buffalo chili, jalapenos, green onion, cilantro, black olives and cheddar cheese sauce.  in my opinion these sound much better than they taste.  not only did i need to add salt to these fries but they just weren't very good.  the toppings were fine but they need to step up the class of the actual fries.  if i go back i'd much rather drink 2 shakes and leave the fries to be eaten by the amateurs.

that just happened

my quick yet outstanding turkey meatloaf, caramelized onions, fingerling potatoes and steamed baby carrots.  at work today i wanted a meatloaf plate from the deli down the street, sadly when i got there they were sold out.  so i did the next best thing.. i made my own.  actually i think it was better than the lunch plate i would've ordered.  i threw some ground turkey, an egg, sesame cracker crumbs and a package of meatloaf spices into a bowl and mixed away.  i then dumped it into a dish, formed it and popped it into the oven.  oh i also brushed a little bbq sauce on the top and added more once it came out of the oven.  i am surprised how fast i literally threw this together and i think i'll make it more often.

figo

my bestie with testies came in to town for the weekend and luckily he made some time for us to go to dinner.  figo is a new restaurant that just opened on university in downtown palo alto so we thought it'd be a good place to check out before everyone else caught on.

this is a picture of my pizza they called figo, it's topped with prosciutto, house made mozzarella and arugula.  i thought the pizza was good and even better cause i love arugula but it wasn't something i'll crave and feel like i need to go back for.  that being said everything was pleasant and the food & atmosphere were good.

for dessert i ate the pistachio panna cotta.. yummy!!

pulled pork w/mac & cheese from the smokin' warehouse truck.  while it wasn't the best i've ever had i thought that these flavors worked well together and i was happy with my order.  well done.
